Hot Tub Reviews

Not all hot tubs are created equal... and that goes for hot tub dealers too!

Hot Tubs
Do your research before you plunge into hot tub ownership. We recommend looking at warranties, operating costs, and Consumers’ Digest reviews. Ask around and see if your friends are happy with their tub and their dealer. Unless you are a large shareholder in our electric company, stay away from uninsulated tubs and those with large amounts of jets and pumps (they cost a lot to operate).  Please “test drive” any hot tub you like before you buy it; if you do, you will be sure it will be comfortable. Be wary of out-of-state service providers (some manufacturers have you call numbers in Florida or Texas to get service, and hence could care less if you are helped in a timely manner. Keep your business local so you can get service if you need it.

Hot Tub Dealers
The local retail company from whom you choose to buy your hot tub is just as important as the hot tub you buy. Things to consider while hot tub shopping...
- Reputation (testimonials of customers? awards? free post-delivery visits?)
- Service Department (how many technicians? how well-equipped? parts in stock?)
- Research the Hot Tub Manufacturer (how long have they been selling them?)
- Are Hot Tubs their main business? (specialization often means better support)
- Will they let you try one before you buy?

- Will the local dealer help plan your backyard?

Maine Companies

Spa and Tub Depot, Scarborough (www.spaandtubdepot.com)

Mainely Tubs, Scarborough (www.mainelytubs.com)

Pine Tree Spas (moved? 12/07)

National Pool and Spa, Gray (moved? 3/08)

Though unmistakably biased, (the business above, Mainely Tubs, created the site) askDrSpa.com does indeed have some good hot tub shopping advice and tips.

And above all, support Maine companies! (keep Mainers employed!)
